Radius for OpenVMS (Radius-VMS)
Radius-VMS started as port of the Livingston's RADIUS 2.01 server to OpenVMS to implement a support of VMS
specific features. This project has been sponsored by DLS Internet
Service Inc. and has been performed by Ruslan R. Laishev.
RADIUS-VMS - it's the RADIUS server for OpenVMS is multithread by DEC Threads , which was fully rewritten
from the original sources and are stayed under active development for implementation of new features. It intend to be
flexible and robust solution as part of nonstop infrastructure for support a business of:
Using of the power of the OpenVMS clusters (ranked by IDC and Gartner Groups as "King of clusters") give
an ability to implement the mission-critical platform provided an automatic failover and a load balancing as well as high
security and performance.
Here are main features of the complete commercial RADIUS-VMS implementation:
- Run on OpenVMS Alpha and OpenVMS VAX V6.1 or newer, suggested V7.1 or above
- Run with Process Software TCPware & Multinet (tested with latest version of the
products), HP TCPIP Services for OpenVMS (formerly known as UCX)
- SYSUAF based authentication and authorization
- Long passwords (up to 96 bytes) and passwords change support (SYSUAF only)
- AUDIT + OPCOM messaging
- Security based on VMS facilities (AUDIT, Intrusion detection)
- Accounting of users/NAS/port activities in VMS ACCOUNTING format as well as in the
traditional RADIUS .DETAIL format
- Run in VMS Cluster environment supporting cluster IP alias

under VMS/Alpha >7.x
- Authentication on Windows NT or LAN Manager servers (with failover)
- Session limit checking & authorization
